Refund Policy
Last updated: September 18, 2026 — Effective: September 18, 2026
This Refund Policy is part of the TurboVIN Terms of Service, available at turbovin.com/legal/terms. It applies to individual report purchases made by consumers.
1. What you are buying
When you purchase a TurboVIN report, you are buying access to the existing records for a vehicle identified by its VIN, presented in our interface with plain-language explanations.
The report is a digital good that is delivered and consumed immediately. For that reason, refunds are governed by the specific rules in this policy rather than by a general return period.
1.1 Where the Service is available
TurboVIN is offered only to purchasers located in the United States, including Puerto Rico. We do not sell reports outside that territory.
Our data sources cover vehicles titled and registered in the United States. A VIN for a vehicle registered in another country may return no records at all, in which case Section 3.1 applies and you get your money back.
2. Verification before you pay
Before we charge you, we show you the year, make, model, and engine associated with the VIN you entered.
This lets you confirm you are looking up the right vehicle. Review that information before completing your payment.
3. When you DO get a full refund
3.1 The VIN returns no records
If the VIN you searched does not appear in any of the databases we use and no report can be generated, you get your money back. On the web, we only authorize your card at checkout and capture the payment once your report exists, so the hold is released and you are never charged. For purchases made in the iOS app, Apple charges you at the time of purchase and only Apple can issue the refund; see Section 4.6.
On the web this happens automatically. You do not need to request it.
3.2 We fail to generate your report
If a technical failure on our side or our data provider's side prevents us from generating your report within 24 hours of your purchase, you get your money back: on the web the hold on your card is released and you are never charged, and for purchases made in the iOS app you can request a refund from Apple (Section 4.6).
On the web this happens automatically. See Section 5 for details.
3.3 You were charged twice
If we detect, or you report, a duplicate charge for the same search, we refund the duplicated amount.
This refund is automatic when we detect it. If you detect it, email billing@turbovin.com.
4. When you do NOT get a refund
4.1 The report contains few records
A report with few records is a complete report.
If the vehicle appears in the databases but has a short history, the report accurately reflects what exists. The amount of information does not determine whether the service was delivered.
This is meaningful information in itself: a clean, short history may be exactly what you need to know before buying a vehicle.
This is different from Section 3.1, where the VIN returns no records at all and there is no report to deliver.
4.2 Dissatisfaction with the content
No refund is issued because the report did not contain the information you expected, or because the result did not support your purchase decision.
4.3 Change of mind
No refund is issued for buyer's remorse after you have received the report.
4.4 Incorrect VIN
If you entered the wrong VIN and the vehicle shown in the pre-purchase verification (Section 2) did correspond to that VIN, no refund is issued. The verification step exists precisely to prevent this.
4.5 Errors in the source records
If a record contains incorrect information, that error originates with the entity that reported it, not with TurboVIN. We have no ability to modify third-party records.
We can point you to the entity to contact for a correction, but an error in the source data does not entitle you to a refund, since the Service delivered exactly what the databases contain.
4.6 Purchases made in the iOS app
Purchases made inside the iPhone or iPad app are handled by Apple, not TurboVIN. Refunds for those purchases must be requested directly from Apple and are governed by Apple's policies.
You can request them at reportaproblem.apple.com.
5. Technical failures after payment
Under normal conditions your report is generated within seconds. If our data provider experiences an outage, delay, or technical failure after you complete your purchase, the following applies:
Automatic retries. Your order is recorded and we automatically retry generating the report for up to 24 hours. You do not need to do anything.
Notification. If the report is not generated within the first few minutes and you gave us an email address, we email you to confirm your order is in progress. We send a second email with the link to your report as soon as it is available.
Automatic release. If after 24 hours we have not generated your report, the hold on your card is released automatically and you are not charged, without you having to request it. For purchases made in the iOS app, only Apple can issue a refund; see Section 4.6.
Your order is not lost. The payment stays linked to the VIN searched. You will never be charged twice for the same search, and you will never have to pay again for a report you already purchased.
A technical failure is not the same as a lack of data coverage. These are distinct situations with distinct outcomes, described separately in this policy.
6. How to request a refund
6.1 Time limit
Refund requests in eligible cases must be submitted within 7 days of purchase.
The automatic outcomes described in Sections 3.1, 3.2, and 5 do not require a request and are not subject to this time limit.
6.2 How to submit
Email billing@turbovin.com from the address you used for the purchase, including:
- The VIN you searched
- The approximate purchase date
- The reason for your request
We may ask for the last four digits of the card to verify the purchase. We will never ask for your full card number.
6.3 Response times
| Stage | Time |
|---|---|
| Response to your request | 3 business days |
| Decision and processing | 5 business days from request |
| Credit to your payment method | 5 to 10 additional business days |
Posting time depends on your bank or card issuer and is outside our control.
6.4 Refund method
All refunds are credited to the same payment method used for the purchase. We do not issue refunds in cash, by transfer, or to a different method.
7. Effect of a refund on your report
When a refund is processed, you lose access to the corresponding report, including your buyer link, any share links you generated, and the associated AI chat.
If you already downloaded the PDF, that file remains on your device and is outside our control.
8. Chargebacks
If you have a problem with a purchase, contact us first. The large majority of cases are resolved in a single exchange of emails.
Opening a dispute with your bank or card issuer without trying to resolve it with us first prevents us from helping you and creates costs that make the service more expensive for everyone.
If a chargeback is opened without prior contact, TurboVIN may:
- Suspend your account and revoke access to the associated reports
- Block future purchases from that payment method or account
- Submit evidence of service delivery to the card issuer
These measures do not apply when the dispute stems from card fraud, meaning a third party used your payment method without your authorization. In that case, contact us and we will help you.
9. Dealer plans
Dealer subscription plans are not covered by this policy. They are governed by the TurboVIN Dealer Subscription Agreement provided at the time of enrollment.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The version that applies to your purchase is the one in effect at the time you made it.
If a change is material, we will notify you by email or through a visible notice on the site at least 30 days before it takes effect.
